Steve Vai custom patch for Overloud TH2

I was having too much fun in playing around with the TH2 program and decided to have some fun by trying to get Steve Vai's "For the Love of God" sound with the patches. The effects and amplifiers choose are based on my pedalboard. Settings are set to what I think Steve Vai settings are in his amp. The clip is recorded with my Frankenstein and again with my super awesome handphone, the Samsung Galaxy S2. Check out the 2 amp heads with 2 4x12 cabinets! Things that I can't afford but the program makes it possible!

Sound samples for Entwistle DarkStar Neck

Finally I've got around to do some recording for the Entwistle Dark Star pickup. Did I mention to anyone I have a really Awesome (sic) phone? I've just found out that, instead of trying to hunt for a condenser mic to do sound recordings, out of curiosity, I tried the voice recorder app that came with my phone and recorded some sound samples and to my astonishment, the quality is pretty good. Well, not studio quality but it's good enough that you can tell a difference in terms of tone.

The sound sample was obtained with my Frankenstein through a Monte Allum modded DS-1 with my Blackheart Killer Ant amp head. Tone was set to 9 o'clock, Level was set to 2 o'clock and gain was maxed out.

New sound samples for "Malmsteen" and "Frankenstien"

After finally getting a bare basic recording setup, I've finally gotten around in recording some sound samples for some of my guitars. So far I've only managed 2 which are "Malmsteen" and "Frankenstein. Both samples are direct guitar to my Marshall mini-stack, set at full gain with all EQ flat. The samples are Yngwie Malmsteen's Neo Classical lick. Please excuse my sloppy playing and thank you for listening.

A day of setting up my cheapo recording gear

So I decided that if I were to write a blog about guitar, I should be able to provide means to allow people to hear the sound samples. So I got around in buying the cheapest mic I can afford now, which is an omnidirectional dynamic mic and hook in straight to my EEmu external sound card. It ain't the best setup out there but still gets the job done for now till i can afford an USB condenser mic.

To test my new recording setup, I've tried recording something. I've played this with my Frankenstein, which are equipped with Dragonfire screamers. It is played directly to my Marshall mini stack with max gain and max Reverb, with EQ set at flat. Pardon my bad playing and slightly out of tune guitar (which I conveniently forget to tune while recording), none the less it gives a rough idea on the recording quality and the sound of the Dragonfire Screamer Neck pick up.
